The committee will focus on creating and facilitating a forum of discussion for PhDs that are also working as GTAs. We’ll continue running the ‘Community for GTA Support and Representation’ group on Facebook, but we’ll also establish a board of core members that can support us to run the committee. Although we aren’t a representative body, we aim at creating a platform where GTAs can gather, share their experiences, discuss best practices, and organise themselves to take further action, localising current issues and problems with GTA work and proposing solutions that can be implemented. As a PhD Society Committee, we’ll provide a forum for discussion and we’ll cooperate with GTA and UCU representatives to facilitate any actions and motions. We’ll fight in solidarity with GTAs and PhDs and we will take a stand on these issues when needed. We’ll also work at national level by liaising and building relationships with GTA representatives outside Glasgow University. We aim at holding bi-monthly committee meetings and to distribute regular newsletters about our work. Please, get in touch if you would like to become part of the core committee members.
