Past Events

In the past year, we have run a series of sessions dedicated to the issues PhD students face when they combine their research with teaching activities. These sessions resulted in the development of the GTA Community for Representation and Support initiative.

The Society has also arranged a series of meetings with the Student Representative Council in order to find out how the Society can provide an added value to the existing system of representation of the PhDs.

Pillar Goals

  • Establish GTA Community for Representation and Support that would ensure proper representation of GTAs interests in the University and facilitate the exchange of experience and best practices;

  • Improve the existing system of PhDs representation by overcoming its current fragmented nature;

  • Organize monthly surgeries (open forums) to give PhDs an opportunity to meet with their Reps and PhD fellows and discuss matters of concern on an ongoing basis;

  • Keep PhDs informed about their opportunities and rights at the University of Glasgow as well as of any decision-making processes which can potentially affect PhDs.
